Congo bars

  • 2/3 Cup butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 lb light brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 and 3/4 Cup flour
  • 2 and 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Cup chocolate chips (6 oz.)
  • 1 Cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Mix together butter, brown sugar and eggs to blend. In a separate bowl mix flour, baking powder and salt and add to wet mixture. Add chocolate chips and walnuts.
Spread in a well greased 10 x 15 inch pan. ( the dough is very sticky so you may have to pat it out).
Bake at 350° F for 35 minutes. It will still look soft. Cut while warm.
